What rank is Oxford’s medical school in the world?

Since I’m a foreigner, it’s going to be hard for me to go to an American university… so I’m gonna try for an English medical university. But are there any universities in England or anywhere else in Europe that has a good medical school like Harvard or Johns Hopkins?

Firstly, as a foreigner in the UK you will not be eligible for the normal student fees that British students get, so you’ll be looking at around £125,000 – £165,000 to complete the course.

If that doesn’t put you off, I’ll proceed:

In British Medicine medical schools DO NOT get ranked. Ignore university ranks, these deliberately exclude medical schools. There is a very specific and deliberate reason for doing this, imagine you’re a patient and you’ve heard from a league table that oxford is the best medical school in the country and say cambrdige is the worst… Now a doctor from cambridge wants to treat you… you might be tempted to say no, and there aren’t enough doctors for patients to pick and choose like this. The idea is either a doctor is good enough to be a doctor or they aren’t, and if they aren’ tthen they shouldn’t be allowed to practise.

Instead the General Medical Council, which governs and authorises doctors to practise in the UK (like the AMA does in the USA) ‘Quality assures’ all 32 UK medical schools to make sure they are up to a high standard.

Because British medical schools are more closely government run and there are fewer of them, there is no such thing as a dodgy/quack medical school in the UK. All 32 schools are of a world class standard. Remember, most British medical schools are about 500-1000 years old, they have huge reputations.
