To stimulate your creative imagination and release powerful forces trapped in your mind, begin a detailed study of the hidden meaning of fairy tales.
By Dennis Fisher
Creative imagination is the secret of success for everything you hope to achieve in life. It’s a force so powerful it can produce remarkable new inventions; marvels of engineering, masterpieces of music, literature, painting and sculpture.
This applies as much to creativity in business and original new ways to market your product as it does to every form of artistic expression.
The possibilities are limitless. In many respects creative imagination is similar to magic.
How can a detailed study of fairy tales and the magic presented in these stories help stir and stimulate your creative imagination?
Because fairy tales are very much more than fascinating stories for children. They have a hidden meaning. When you examine them carefully you’ll find they contain a great depth of knowledge and understanding about human nature.
“Rumpelstilskin” is a typical example of a fairy tale with hidden depths of meaning and an underlying message. Many unusual incidents and cryptic features are presented symbolically. The story is far more complex and revealing than it may first appear.
Gold in this fairy tale signifies more than wealth. It is a symbol of success, fame, recognition for achievement; also greed and lust for power. Straw represents material of little worth as well as substances and elements of life that are unimportant and insignificant. It also represents mediocrity and failure to reach one’s goals.
The story focuses on creative power. “Rumpelstilskin” is presented as weird-looking, ugly old man with magical powers to spin straw into gold. His sudden appearance in response to the young girl’s cries of distress symbolize the power of creative imagination
In many respects a fairy tales is similar to a secret code that can only be broken by careful analysis of many hidden features.
There are many hidden features about the magical deeds performed in every fairy tale. This applies as much to “Jack and the Beanstalk” as it does to “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” “Rumpelstilskin” and many other fairy tales.
All fairy tales have characters with unusual ability to perform magic. Examine the incidents in each story carefully. In every instance you’ll find the magic is meant to represent the power of the human mind and the ability to achieve miraculous achievements.
And excellent example of this is to be seen in the “Aladdin” fairy tale.
The Genie, trapped in a bottle, represents the dormant and under-utilized capacity of the human mind. It symbolizes the personal creative power everyone possesses but fails to make use of.
Once this powerful force is released your creative potential is limitless.
Your personal “Genie” is meant to represent your inner voice; your intuitive instincts; your need to express yourself is a distinctive and original manner, often stifled by your own timidity, shyness or fear of criticism.
The detailed study of fairy tales can provide you with direction and show you how to listen to this inner voice.
Like so many others, you probably have never made full use of the dormant talents you possess. These talents may be regarded as your personal “genie”.
Start today to read and re-read fairy tales that enthralled and captivated you as a child. But now read them methodically and analytically. Examine and interpret every incident in a variety of different ways.
This process of examining fairy tales in this analytical manner will stimulate your mind to a remarkable degree. Your mind will become open to innovative ideas; original new thoughts and ingenious ways of dealing with situations. Your own personal “Genie” will be set free; ready to guide you in approaching your goals from a new direction.
