Why did Johann scream at the picture book in the anime Monster?
i was watching monster, i got to around 25 or 30 maybe? anyways, Johann screamed and collapsed in a library after seeing a picture book. some1 wana tell me what the f*ck that sh*t was about?

wait does that mean you know and arent telling me? or do you not know and your just screwing with me?
There were some scenes from Monster that were only implied and not really spelled out so this is just my idea.
Johan and Anna were taken as experiment subjects by the people from the Red Rose Mansion. While they were in there, they tried to manipulate the children’s behaviors and way of thinking by erasing all their previous memories and planting new concepts and ideologies in their minds. They did this by reading a highly symbolical book called the Monster Without A Name to the children, I think every single day/week. The book was written and illustrated by Bonaparta (who also had multiple pseudonyms), the same guy who spearheaded the research/experiment. The book pretty much sums up Johan’s birth, personality and journey in life, phrased in a way that would not be obvious to everyone else. His name was taken from the main character of that book.
He was in the process of recollecting (can’t think of a better term right now) his past/memories when he came across the book. I can’t recall if it was ever directly stated why he fainted, but I would assume it’s from the shock due to the sudden rush of memories since he seemed to have remembered everything after that incident.
