Can anyone recommend a good book for the beach?

I want something light…and cheap in mass market paperback. I hate to take hardcover books to the beach. They get damaged so easily then I feel guilty. And they are too heavy to tote back and forth.

I’m hoping for one of those books that drags you in with a bit of a cliff hanger at the end of each chapter so it entices you to read the next one.

I just returned from a wonderful week on the beach in Mexico with the perfect book: The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory. Perfect because it combines sex, lies, sisterly rivalry, nasty parents, great wealth, and impending execution. A bit of history and a lot of fiction all wrapped up. I had a hard time putting it down, and got a killer tan in the process of spacing out in the days of King Henry VIII. It’s also long enough that you really only need to bring one book.
